Measures
Zinc in serum.
Why it matters
Zinc is involved in immune function, wound healing, protein synthesis and taste perception.
Serum zinc has known limitations: it falls during inflammation independently of status, drops after meals, and varies across the day. It's useful but needs those caveats attached.
Before you collect
Morning collection after an overnight fast. Note supplementation — zinc supplements directly affect the result. If you have an active infection or injury, the result will read low regardless of your actual status.
Suits
People assessing zinc status with a practitioner.

## Flagged from this batch
Restricted availability — now 7 products
, all Healius or Healius/ACL only: Amylase, Gastrin, RBC Copper, RBC Folate, RBC Glutathione Peroxidase, RBC Magnesium, RBC Zinc, Oestradiol LCMS, Testosterone LCMS. This needs a storefront filter or a location check at checkout.
Lithium Serum Level ($36)
Is a therapeutic drug monitoring test. The copy states it's for people already prescribed lithium, that timing is 12 hours post-dose, and that no one should adjust a dose on a result without medical advice. Worth considering whether it belongs in a direct-to-consumer catalogue at all.
Reverse T3 ($150)
— I've written that its use outside illness and fasting contexts is debated and that it isn't part of standard thyroid assessment, pointing people to the Thyroid Function Test instead. The most expensive test I've actively steered people away from.
Red cell mineral tests (5 products, $115–$194)
— the copy notes that practitioners who use red cell testing consider it a better reflection of tissue status, and that this view isn't universal. Accurate, and softer than how these are usually sold.
