Six measures of semen quality — volume, concentration, motility, morphology, liquefaction and viscosity.
What this test measures
Semen volume, sperm concentration, total motility, progressive motility, morphology and liquefaction.
Why these markers matter
Semen analysis describes several separate characteristics rather than one score. Concentration is how many sperm are present. Motility is how many are moving, and progressive motility is how many are moving forward usefully. Morphology describes shape. Volume and liquefaction describe the sample itself. Results vary considerably between samples from the same person, which is why a single analysis is a starting point rather than a conclusion. Before you collect: two to seven days of abstinence beforehand, and the sample needs to reach the lab quickly. The collection instructions matter more here than for most tests.
What you get
All six measures reported in your private dashboard, in plain language. Typically a few business days after collection.
Who this suits
People investigating fertility questions with a practitioner, or establishing a baseline.
