Why it matters

PTH is released by the parathyroid glands and is central to how the body regulates calcium — acting on bone, kidneys and intestinal absorption.

It's almost always interpreted alongside calcium and vitamin D, because the three form a regulatory loop. PTH alone says little.

Collect calcium at the same time if you haven't recently. Note vitamin D supplementation.
