Why it matters

Oestradiol is the main oestrogen during reproductive years, produced primarily by the ovaries and, in smaller amounts, by other tissues in both sexes.

Before you collect

Cycle timing is critical for women. Oestradiol varies several-fold across the menstrual cycle — the same result means very different things on day 3 and day 21. Ask your practitioner which day before collecting. Hormonal contraception and hormone therapy affect results.
