Why it matters

LH signals to the ovaries or testes and, in women, surges to trigger ovulation. Like FSH, it describes the signal being sent rather than the response to it.

Before you collect

Cycle timing matters for women — LH varies substantially across the cycle and surges mid-cycle. Day 2–5 is standard for baseline assessment unless your practitioner specifies otherwise. Hormonal contraception affects results.
