Four markers describing how much iron you're carrying, how much you're storing, and how well you're transporting it.
What this test measures
Serum iron, ferritin, transferrin and transferrin saturation.
Why these markers matter
Iron does two different things worth measuring separately. Serum iron is what's circulating right now — it moves with meals and time of day. Ferritin is what's in storage, and it's the more stable picture. Transferrin and transferrin saturation describe the transport system moving iron around. This matters because storage can run low well before circulating iron looks unusual. Fatigue, poor exercise tolerance and low mood are common reasons people look at iron, and a single measurement without ferritin can miss the picture entirely. Timing matters: collect in the morning after an overnight fast, and hold iron supplements for 24 hours beforehand unless your practitioner says otherwise.
What you get
All four markers against their reference ranges in your private dashboard, in plain language. Typically a few business days after collection.
Who this suits
People tracking iron on a practitioner's advice, endurance athletes, and anyone whose intake or demand has changed.
