At-home urine test measuring how two sugar molecules of different sizes pass through the intestinal wall.
What this test measures
The recovery in urine of two ingested sugar molecules — lactulose and mannitol — and the ratio between them.
Why these markers matter
The two sugars are different sizes. The smaller one passes through the intestinal wall readily; the larger one much less so. Measuring how much of each appears in urine after drinking a standard solution describes how the barrier is behaving. The ratio matters more than either figure alone, because it corrects for how much you absorbed overall.
What you get
Kit posted to you with the test solution, collection containers and instructions. Results in your private dashboard, typically one to two weeks after collection.
Before you collect
This is a challenge test: you fast, drink the supplied solution, then collect urine over a set period. Set aside the morning. Follow the fasting and timing instructions exactly — the ratio is meaningless if the timing slips.
Who this suits
People working with a practitioner on gut barrier questions.
Your next step
