At-home urine test measuring neurotransmitters and their metabolites — the extensive version.
What this test measures
Urinary neurotransmitters including serotonin, dopamine, adrenaline, noradrenaline, GABA and glutamate, together with their metabolites.
Why these markers matter
Neurotransmitters are the signalling molecules nerve cells use to communicate. What's measured in urine reflects what's being produced and cleared at a whole-body level. Worth being straight about the limitation: urinary neurotransmitters largely reflect peripheral production, not what's happening in the brain. They're used as one input among several, and they don't measure mood or brain chemistry directly. Anyone selling them as though they do is overstating it.
What you get
Kit posted to you with instructions and return packaging. Results in your private dashboard, typically two to three weeks after the lab receives your sample.
Before you collect
First morning urine. Several foods, supplements and medications affect neurotransmitter markers substantially — follow the kit's list closely and check anything you take with your practitioner first.
Who this suits
People working with a practitioner who uses these markers as part of a broader assessment.
Your next step
Once you have your results, book with a Canwell naturopath, nutritionist or practitioner to talk them through and build a wellness plan that suits you. Book with Canwell
