Calprotectin Stool Test Kit

Measures faecal calprotectin, a protein released by white cells in the bowel wall.
What this test measures
Calprotectin concentration in a single stool sample.
Why these markers matter
Calprotectin is released by neutrophils — a type of white blood cell — when they're active in the bowel wall. Measuring it in stool gives a marker of what's happening locally in the gut rather than systemically. It's frequently used to help distinguish between conditions that involve inflammation of the bowel and those that don't, which is a distinction with quite different management. That's a clinical judgement, not one to make from a number alone.
