Blood arsenic reflects recent exposure — it clears relatively quickly, so this is a short-window measurement rather than a cumulative one.

Before you collect

Avoid seafood for at least 48 hours beforehand. Seafood contains organic arsenic compounds that are not toxicologically significant but which raise total arsenic readings substantially. This is the single most common reason for a confusing result.
