What this test measures

Why these markers matter

Most hormone testing measures how much of a hormone is present. This measures that plus what happens to it afterwards — the metabolites produced as the body processes each hormone. That matters because two people with the same oestrogen level can be metabolising it down quite different pathways. The metabolite pattern is information a serum level doesn't contain. Collecting at four points also captures the daily cortisol rhythm rather than a single moment.
